Dr. Abdul Wahab – AlRahman-AlRaheem TV

Interview of Dr. Abdul Wahab, former head Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and Vice Chancellor, Karachi University.

Makes some interesting points. And does seem to have done some positive things for Karachi University.

However some people claim he has a slightly uncouth way of behaving and is not immune to being slack in “sifarish” or such niceties.

Maybe being street-smart (he mentions his relatively impoverished background) makes him be less nit-picky about such things and survival and making do is closer to his heart.

Although in the interview he suggests an almost total detachment from such pressures.

But such is TV and book reminiscences. They only make sense when you compare to the opposing opinions and challenge the person to get at the truth. And sometimes the “truth” is “right” given the particular thinking of the person i.e. a judgement call at the right time, and it can be “wrong” for an opposing analysis of that same problem.

So the experiences of people close to Karachi University who know the situation better may differ slightly in opinion.
