Real situation in Swat – Afzal Khan Lala

leave a comment »

Talat Hussain (AAJ TV) interviews Afzal Khan Lala (ANP) who lost relatives in Swat at the hands of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.

One of the few people to speak up about the problems in Swat.

All the other politicians are so scared of the assassination capability of Tehreek-e-Taliban that they cannot speak against them.

Journalists avoid criticizing them, for fear of not being allowed to work in Tehreek-e-Taliban areas. Or to protect themselves from being hung in the chowk.

When TT hold power to kill people without reason, then either people adopt “hijrat” (i.e. leave), or they become “thullay” to the Tehreek-e-Taliban, addressing them with all manner of praise and protocol. That is, they become subservient to the Tehreek-e-Taliban.

In contrast they feel free to criticize Musharraf the “great Aamir” and “greatest dictator”.

How often have you heard these people criticize the Tehreek-e-Taliban:
Dr. Shahid Masood
Hamid Mir – is trying to turn himself around fast
Ansar Abbasi – praised the flogging of girl in Swat

Then there are the “lota”:
Talat Hussain – he is now trying to pull a “Lal Masjid” again – pushing for action, but will he again turn “lota” and criticize the need for action (as he did for Lal Masjid) ?
