Sheikh Rashid interview – Seedhi Baat

leave a comment »

One of the better interviews – first part missing. Lots of questions by the interviewer on a wide range of subjects.

Comments on circumstances leading to his removal as Information Minister (moved to Railways).

This was a crucial decision as it impacted the mismanagement of the lawyer’s movement (Durrani was a total incendiary device – his nonresponsive behaviour would have pissed anyone off).

Comments on improvements to Railways – contract to FWO, e-ticketing salary increases after many years.

Sheds light on how Musharraf did not make decisions on all minutae (as many people tend to think).

Suggests Zardari is involved in heavy corruption – in transfer of mills from other people, or at least that is the rumour mill because of information people hear about local bank accounts.

Mentions how Nawaz Sharif and Zardari are foreign-based with wealth and relatives settled abroad – “mehel main jail kaatain hain”.

Sheds light on Musharraf Resignation.

And the behaviour of politicians.

Gives background on Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry – how he moved from standing outside Lal Haveli to Chaudhry Brothers and onwards.

Some information on Moin Qureshi (former PM who was called in to become caretaker PM once).

His mismatch with Shaukat Aziz.

Mentions the greater ability of Shehbaz Sharif vs. Nawaz Sharif.
