Farrukh Khan Pitafi on Swat, extremism

Farrukh Khan Pitafi (journalist) on TV One program “National Interest” – TV One – Apr 26, 2009

Concise summary of Swat, including background of Sufi Muhammed.

Points out the obvious which people have been saying all these years – that foreign funding of organizations (funding of NGOs are another example) will INEVITABLY lead to pockets of “special interests” that may NOT be aligned with the interests of Pakistan.

On a related note:

Letting foreign funding into our educational institutions (whether it be Saudi OR the recent attempt by U.S. interests/NGOs) is WORSE.

Even if these efforts seem to be “succeeding” (the NGOs facilitating this will always say they are), they reduce the LEGITIMACY and authority of the educational system.
